All events will be held on Sunday 26th April 2009. We advise participants to arrive from 10.00 onwards, depending on the start time chosen. On arrival, please head to the main gazebo to sign the register before starting the race.
There are two start times and participants will be started in family groups at small intervals to avoid collisions. Start times for the event are:
10.30am: Judging for ‘decorate your bike’ competition (see below)
11.00 am: For families hoping to do more than 5 laps
11.30am: For families hoping to complete up to 5 laps.
12.30pm: The aim is for all cycling to have finished by 12.30pm.
At the end of their ride each participant should report back to the gazebo where they will receive a certificate stating the number of laps completed.
Please Note: There is a public car park at each location however we cannot guarantee a space as there car park has a limited capacity.
What happens on the day?
There will be two start times, according to the number of laps you aim to complete. (see above). Children and their parents are encouraged to cycle together and to ride as many circuits as you feel able (up to a maximum of 5 miles). The distance of each circuit will vary for each site and you will be able to see on our the website how many laps it will take to complete the maximum of 5 miles.
There will be a team of marshals present at the ride the responsibility for the safety of children remains with the parents. We recommend that bicycles should be checked before the event and that all participants should wear helmets while cycling.
There will be a ‘Decorate Your Bike Competition’; we are encouraging as many children (and parents) as possible to decorate their bikes. This could be simply using streamers, ribbons and bows or you could turn you bike into an animal or space rocket! There will be prizes for the best efforts in each of 3 age groups: 5-7, 8-9, and 10-11 years. The bikes will be judged at 10.30 am before the cycling begins. The more colorful and original the better, but please remember that decorations may need to be removed before cycling if they affect the safety of the rider.
